Description:
Human insulin like growth factor binding protein 2 (IGFBP-2) ELISA kit (10 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of IGFBP-2 in human samples with a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 10 pg/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
This assay employs a specific antibody for human IGFBP-2 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells, where IGFBP-2 is captured by the immobilized antibody. After washing, a biotinylated anti-human IGFBP-2 antibody is added. Following the removal of unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is introduced. After a final wash, TMB substrate is added, and color develops in proportion to the amount of bound IGFBP-2. The stop solution shifts the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity is measured at 450 nm.
Background:
IGFBP-2 is a multifunctional molecule that plays a crucial role in human growth, metabolism, and cellular processes by regulating the biological activity of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs). Primarily through binding to IGF proteins, IGFBP-2 prolongs their half-life in the body and modulates their interactions with cell surface receptors, thereby inhibiting or enhancing the pro-growth effects of IGFs. The role of IGFBP-2 in obesity has garnered increasing attention. Its reduced levels are closely associated with obesity, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance.
