Product Overview

Description: Human fatty-acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) ELISA kit (1.56-100 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of FAAH in human with a range of 1.56-100 ng/mL and a specificity of <0.60 ng/mL.
Assay Principle: The microtiter plate provided in this kit is pre-coated with an antibody specific for FAAH. Standards or samples are then added to the corresponding microtiter plate wells along with the biotin-conjugated FAAH-specific antibody. Avidin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is then added to each microplate well and incubated. Upon addition of TMB substrate solution, only wells containing FAAH, biotin-conjugated antibody, and enzyme-conjugated avidin will show a color change. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulfuric acid solution, and the color change is then measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm ± 10 nm. The concentration of FAAH in the sample is then determined by comparing the OD of the sample to the standard curve.
Background: FAAH degrades bioactive fatty acid amides into corresponding acids, thereby terminating the signaling function of these molecules. It participates in neural signaling pathways involved in regulating feeding and is associated with obesity.
Synonyms: FAAH-1; Anandamide amidohydrolase 1; Oleamide hydrolase 1; EC 3.5.1.99
