Product Overview
Description:
Human brain cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) ELISA kit (0.156-10 ng/mL, 0.046 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of CB1 in human with a range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a specificity of 0.046 ng/mL.
Assay Principle:
The microtiter plates provided in this kit are pre-coated with CB1-specific antibodies. Standards or samples are then added to the corresponding microtiter plate wells along with the biotin-conjugated CB1-specific antibody preparation. Avidin conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is then added to each microtiter plate well and incubated. Upon addition of TMB substrate solution, only wells containing CB1, biotin-conjugated antibody, and enzyme-conjugated avidin will show a color change. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulfuric acid solution, and the color change is then measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm ± 10 nm. The OD of the sample is then compared to a standard curve to determine the concentration of CB1 in the sample.
Background:
CB1 is a member of the cannabinoid receptor family and the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily. It is expressed at the highest levels in different brain regions, and is also present at lower levels in most other cell/tissue types, including adipose tissue. It is thought to activate multiple signaling pathways, regulating energy metabolism and cell survival/death. CB1 has become a drug target for treating obesity. CB1 inhibitors may be potential anti-obesity drugs.
Synonyms:
CNR1; Central cannabinoid receptor; Brain-type cannabinoid receptor
