Product Overview
Description:
Fish growth hormone (GH) ELISA kit is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of GH in fish samples with a range of 312.5-5000 pg/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of <312.5 pg/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
This kit uses competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technology. The microtiter plate is pre-immobilized with a GH-specific antibody. Standards or samples are introduced into the wells along with biotin-conjugated GH. The endogenous GH competes with the biotin-conjugated GH for the pre-coated antibody sites; thus, higher GH levels result in less bound biotin-conjugate. Following a wash step, avidin-HRP and substrate solution are added. Color develops in inverse proportion to the GH concentration in the sample. The reaction is stopped, and the color intensity is measured.
Background:
Growth hormone (GH) is a crucial endocrine hormone that plays a key role in growth regulation and metabolic control. It primarily promotes bodily growth by stimulating the liver and other tissues to secrete insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), while also enhancing amino acid uptake and protein synthesis. Deficiencies in GH can lead to growth hormone deficiency disorders, such as dwarfism. Research indicates that GH induces lipolysis through direct lipolytic effects in adipose tissue and influences obesity to a certain extent.
Synonyms:
GH1; GH-N; GHN; hGH-N; Somatotropin; Hygetropin; Jintropin; Kigtropin; Pituitary growth hormone; Growth hormone, normal
