Description: Chicken ghrelin (GHRL) ELISA kit (15.6-1000 pg/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of GHRL in chicken samples with a range of 15.6-1000 pg/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 5.2 pg/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.

Assay Principle: This two-site sandwich ELISA quantifies GHRL in chicken serum or plasma. A specific capture antibody is pre-coated onto the microplate. Standards and samples are added for GHRL capture, followed by a wash and the addition of a biotin-conjugated detection antibody. HRP-conjugated streptavidin is then added to bind the biotinylated antibody. After a final wash, substrate is added, and color develops in direct proportion to the bound GHRL. The reaction is stopped before measuring the intensity.

Background: Ghrelin is a peptide hormone primarily secreted by the stomach, exerting its effects by binding to the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1 (GHSR). It plays multiple roles in the body, but its most well-known function is regulating energy balance and appetite. Research indicates that ghrelin levels and their regulation of appetite may be abnormal in obese individuals. It is considered a key target for developing anti-obesity drugs.
