Description: Cat interleukin 6 (IL-6) ELISA kit (2-600 ng/L) is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA kit for analyzing the presence of cat IL-6 in the range of 2-600 ng/L.

Assay Principle: The plate has been pre-coated with cat IL-6 antibody. IL-6 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated cat IL-6 Antibody is added and binds to IL-6 in the sample. Then streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the biotinylated IL-6 antibody. After incubation, unbound streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added, and color develops in proportion to the amount of cat IL-6. The reaction is terminated by the addition of acidic stop solution, and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background: IL-6 is a cytokine with multiple biological functions. It is a potent inducer of the acute phase response, acting on T cells, B cells, hematopoietic progenitors, hepatocytes, and cells of the central nervous system. It plays an important role in the eventual differentiation of B cells into Ig-secreting cells. It also acts as an actin, which is excreted into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and can promote lipolysis and improve insulin resistance.
