Product Overview
Description:
Canine adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) ELISA kit (15.6-1000 pg/mL) is a ready-to-use ELISA kit for analyzing canine ACTH levels with a detection range of 15.6-1000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of up to 5 pg/mL.
Assay Principle:
This kit utilizes a double antibody sandwich ELISA technique. The pre-coated antibody is an anti-canine ACTH monoclonal antibody, and the detection antibody is a biotinylated polyclonal antibody. The sample and biotinylated antibody are added to the wells of the ELISA plate and washed with PBS or TBS. Avidin-peroxidase conjugate is then added sequentially to the wells. The enzyme conjugates are thoroughly washed with PBS or TBS and then colored with TMB substrate, which reacts with the peroxidase activity to produce a blue product, which finally turns yellow upon addition of the termination solution (color developing reagent C). The color intensity is positively correlated with the amount of the target analyte in the sample.
Background:
ACTH stimulates the adrenal glands to release cortisol. Defects in POMC may be associated with susceptibility to obesity (OBESITY). It is a condition characterized by an increase in body weight beyond the limitations of skeletal and physical requirements, as a result of excessive accumulation of body fat. Defects in POMC are the cause of pro-opiomelanocortinin deficiency (POMCD). Affected individuals present early-onset obesity, adrenal insufficiency, and red hair.
Synonyms:
ACTH; Corticotropin; Adrenocorticotropin; Adrenocorticotropic hormone; Pomc1; Pomc-1; Beta-LPH; AlphaMSH; beta-MSH; Gamma-LPH; Alpha-MSH; Gamma-MSH
