Product Overview

Description: Rabbit glutathione peroxidase 1 (GPX1) ELISA kit is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of GPX1 in rabbit samples. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle: This assay utilizes a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantify GPX1. An antibody specific for GPX1 is pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells, where GPX1 is captured by the immobilized antibody. After removing unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated detection antibody is added. Following a wash, streptavidin-HRP is introduced. After a final wash to remove unbound reagents, a substrate solution is added; color develops in direct proportion to the amount of GPX1 bound. The reaction is stopped, and the color intensity is measured.
Background: GPX1 is an antioxidant enzyme widely distributed in the cytoplasm, mitochondria, and nucleus. It exists as a homotetramer and primarily functions to protect cells and enzymes from oxidative damage. GPX1 maintains intracellular redox homeostasis by catalyzing the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and lipid peroxides. It plays a crucial role in multiple biological processes, including apoptosis, lipid metabolism, inflammatory responses, and the response to oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is considered one of the causes for the development of obesity-related metabolic disorders. GPx-1 is a potential regulator of obesity.
Synonyms: GSHPX1; Cellular glutathione peroxidase
Applications: Rabbit glutathione peroxidase 1 (GPX1) ELISA kit is used to quantify GPX1 in serum, plasma, and other biological fluids of rabbit, providing data to support research in a wide range of areas, including endocrinology, inflammation, oxidative stress, metabolism, obesity, and others.
