Product Overview
Description:
Human uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) ELISA kit (0.2-60 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of UCP2 in human samples with a range of 0.2-60 ng/mL and a minimum detectable dose (sensitivity) of 0.12 ng/mL. The kit is highly sensitive and easy to use.
Assay Principle:
The plate has been pre-sensitized with a human UCP2 antibody. During the assay, UCP2 present in the sample binds to the antibodies immobilized on the wells. Subsequently, a biotinylated Human UCP2 detection antibody is added to bind the captured antigen. Streptavidin-HRP is then introduced to bind the biotinylated antibody. Following incubation, unbound streptavidin-HRP is removed during a washing step. A substrate solution is added, and color develops in proportion to the quantity of human UCP2. The reaction is halted by an acidic stop solution, and the absorbance is recorded at 450 nm.
Background:
Uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) is a mitochondrial transporter that facilitates proton leakage across the inner mitochondrial membrane, reducing ATP production and dissipating energy as heat. By modulating mitochondrial membrane potential and cellular metabolism, UCP2 influences oxidative stress, insulin response, and energy balance. Dysregulation of UCP2 activity has been linked to altered energy expenditure and fat accumulation, contributing to obesity and obesity-related metabolic traits.
Synonyms:
Uncoupling protein 2; mitochondrial; SLC25A8; UCPH; Solute carrier family 25 member 8; Mitochondrial uncoupling protein 2
Applications:
Human uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) ELISA kit (0.2-60 ng/mL) is used to quantify UCP2 in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell lysates, and tissue homogenates of human, providing data to support research in a wide range of areas, including developmental science, obesity, and others.
