Product Overview

Description: Human fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) ELISA kit is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of FGF21 in human with a specificity of <15 pg/mL.
Assay Principle: The assay utilizes a 96-well plate coated with an antibody specific for human FGF21. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells, and the FGF21 in the samples is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and the biotinylated anti-human FGF21 antibody is added. After washing away the unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted into the wells. The wells are washed again, TMB substrate solution is added to the wells, and the color is then developed proportionally to the amount of FGF21 bound. The termination solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the color intensity is measured at 450 nm.
Background: FGF21 is a member of the FGF family and is the primary endogenous agonist for the FGF21 receptor. It is involved in various physiological processes and is associated with obesity. Studies have found that treatment with FGF21 analogues can normalize glucose utilization in obese mice and have shown some anti-obesity effects.
