Product Overview
Description:
Human cathepsin S (CTSS) ELISA kit (20-7000 ng/mL) is an ELISA-based in vitro research tool designed specifically for the quantitative detection of CTSS in human with a range of 20-7000 ng/mL and a specificity of 10.26 ng/mL.
Assay Principle:
Plates are pre-coated with human CTSS antibody. CTSS in the sample is added and binds to the antibody coated on the wells. Biotinylated human CTSS antibody is then added, which binds to CTSS in the sample. Streptavidin-HRP is then added to bind to the biotinylated CTSS antibody. After incubation, unbound streptavidin-HRP is washed out in a wash step. The substrate solution is then added, and the color is developed proportionally to the amount of human CTSS. The reaction is terminated by the addition of an acidic termination solution, and the absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
Background:
CTSS is an important member of the cysteine protease family. As a potent mammalian elastase, it can degrade various extracellular components, including fibronectin, laminin, elastin, and collagen. CTSS is abnormally expressed in various disease states, such as obesity and atherosclerosis, which makes it a biomarker and a potential therapeutic target. Studies have found that CTSS inhibitors may be a possible strategy for treating obesity.
