Description: AdipoUpX™ Human SLC2A4 Ad5 Adenoviral Particle (Overexpression) is a ready-to-use Ad5 adenovirus vector particle designed for the transient overexpression of the human SLC2A4 (GLUT4) gene. It enables researchers to investigate the insulin-responsive glucose transporter and its role in improving glucose clearance in muscle and fat cells. The product’s integrity is guaranteed by rigorous purification and comprehensive QC screening.

Summary: SLC2A4 encodes GLUT4, the insulin-regulated glucose transporter. In a resting state, this protein is sequestered in intracellular vesicles in muscle and fat cells. However, within minutes of an insulin signal, GLUT4 moves to the cell surface to transport glucose from the blood into the cell. This rapid translocation is the primary mechanism for lowering blood sugar after eating. Mutations in this gene or defects in its movement to the membrane are major drivers of insulin resistance and non-insulin-dependent diabetes.
