Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) for Obesity Research
InquiryOverview of Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs)
Protheragen focuses on the preclinical studies to lay a solid foundation for subsequent obesity treatment solutions. Our company has carefully constructed Obesity Models designed to mimic the complex physiopathological processes of human obesity to more accurately assess the efficacy and safety of anti-obesity therapies. Using advanced cell culture technology, our researchers accelerate scientific discovery and drug screening by recreating the behavior and responses of obesity-associated cells in a laboratory setting.
MSCs are pluripotent stromal cells that are induced to differentiate into a variety of cell types such as myoblasts and adipocytes. By exploiting the potential of MSCs in regulating fat metabolism and signaling, our company is dedicated to developing new avenues for novel anti-obesity therapies.
Exploration of MSCs in Obesity Research
Our experienced model-building team provides personalized MSC modeling services based on client needs.
Digestion and Establishment of Cell Models
Enzymatic digestion: Our researchers obtain MSCs through mechanical shearing, enzymatic digestion, filtration combined with differential wall purification, etc. We reduce cellular damage from prolonged digestion by optimizing the amount of enzymes used, the digestion time, and the type, and by performing different combinations.
Differentiation induction: Our researchers induce cell differentiation by controlling the concentration of the medium and the proportion of solution added.
Cell labeling and imaging: Relying on advanced imaging technology, we provide dynamic cell labeling and imaging trajectory analysis services.
Professional Analysis
Our company provides high-quality gene and enzyme screening, protein extraction and quantification, biomarker analysis, and signaling pathway analysis services.
Our commonly used analytical tools include but are not limited to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), flow cytometry, and immunoblotting.
Workflow
The process for the construction and use of MSC models is a complex but systematic process involving multiple key steps. The following is a generalized process.
Applications
- MSCs can be used for drug screening and evaluation to assess the effects of drugs on MSC proliferation, differentiation, immunomodulation, and other functions.
- MSCs can be used to study not only the mechanisms of obesity-related diseases but also graft-versus-host disease, osteoarthritis of the knee, and interstitial lung disease.
- MSCs can be used to explore the signals generated by adipocytes interacting with target organs.
Advantages of Us
- Our researchers regularly observe cell morphology and growth to detect and treat abnormalities promptly.
- We have a strict quality control system to assess the status of the cells to avoid contamination.
- Our mature cell model construction team provides the most satisfactory model construction and optimization services according to clients' different research needs.

Results: In this study, researchers used adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ASCs) as an in vitro culture model to study the mechanism of the Aurora A kinase or external signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathway. It was found that inhibition of Aurora A and ERK significantly promoted the formation and restoration of primary cilia in obese MSCs, as evidenced by an increase in cilia length and upregulation of ciliary protein expression. It may affect the formation and function of primary cilia by regulating the cell cycle, signal transduction, and other processes. This finding provides a potential new target for the treatment of obesity-related diseases.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the advantages of the digestive method for cell modeling?
Advantages of the digestive method for cell modeling include high efficiency (high cell purity and fast growth), high cell quality (strong activity and differentiation), and good experimental results (high cell number and high lipid droplet content).
What are the indicators that need to be checked before using a cell model?
Ensuring sterility, safety, purity, activity, characterization, and stability are critical aspects in the construction and evaluation of cell models. We strictly follow the principle of sterility and ensure that the cell culture environment is free from microbial contamination through sophisticated bacterial, fungal, mycoplasma, and endotoxin testing. Further, we utilize advanced fluorescence in situ hybridization and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analyses to ensure the safety of cell models.
Relying on a reliable biology team, Protheragen provides our clients with high-quality in vitro cell models. We look forward to being your first partner in the field of anti-obesity research. No matter what problems you encounter in obesity models, please feel free to contact us.
