Overview of Pharmacodynamic (PD) Study

Protheragen provides one-stop Preclinical Studies of Anti-Obesity Therapeutics to help clients accelerate their preclinical drug discovery and development process. With the rich experience of our scientists, we provide high-quality PD, Pharmacokinetic (PK), Bioanalysis, and Safety Assessment. Moreover, developing appropriate Obesity Models is significant for pre-pharmacological theoretical studies. We offer a comprehensive range of In Vivo Obesity Models and In Vitro Cell Models.

The human physiology is complex and variable, and a variety of external factors (diet, environment, etc.) affect the safety and efficacy of drugs. Obesity or metabolic disorders alter normal physiology, thereby altering the PD response. If a disease/disorder alters the concentration of a drug at the site of action, this may affect the exposure-response relationship and thus affect efficacy or safety.

Advancing the PD Study of Anti-Obesity Therapeutics with Us

Our company has experienced researchers and reliable technologies, providing in vivo and in vitro models, and performing a full range of PD services from drug discovery to preclinical research to accelerate your research on anti-obesity therapeutics.

In Vivo PD Study

  • In vivo PD is mainly used to study the preclinical PD of drugs in experimental animals. Our professional researchers provide professional animal obesity models for anti-obesity therapeutics development. We provide reliable animal model selection (animal sensitivity, disease model pathogenesis), drug dosage setting, administration route selection, and PD index testing services.
  • Through precise experimental design and rigorous data analysis, we provide clients with comprehensive PD evaluation. In addition, we conduct special biomarker monitoring of drugs for metabolic problems such as insulin resistance that are often associated with obese patients, to more comprehensively evaluate the potential utility of drugs in the treatment of obesity.

In Vitro PD Study

  • Our company provides comprehensive in vitro cell function evaluation services. Using established cell models, we use flow cytometry, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), homogeneous time-resolved fluorescence (HTRF) assay, cell imaging, and other technologies to test and evaluate in vitro PD, providing data support for preclinical anti-obesity therapies.
  • Our research team focuses on the analysis of cell proliferation, apoptosis, and signal transduction pathways to reveal the mechanism of drug action and potential side effects.

What Services Can We Provide?

  • Food/Water Intake Assessment
Our professional team provides services to evaluate the PD effects of food and water on new drugs. It is very important to evaluate the effects of food on new drugs used in clinical trials before conducting key trials for drug safety and pharmacodynamics research. We use both in vivo and in vitro methods to test the effects of food and water on anti-obesity therapeutics.
  • Quantitative Analysis of Body Fat Distribution
Based on the excellent obesity model, our company provides an accurate quantitative analysis of body fat distribution. This service is crucial for understanding the impact of obesity on health and aids in the development of targeted therapies for the treatment of obesity-related disorders.
  • Energy Expenditure Monitoring
Through careful energy expenditure monitoring, including calculation of basal metabolic rate and energy expenditure of daily activities, we comprehensively evaluate the energy balance state. We use advanced bioinformatics technology to analyze the collected data to ensure the scientificity and accuracy of the results and provide solid data support for the development of anti-obesity therapeutics.
  • Measurement of Ectopic Fat Accumulation
Relying on professional biological models and advanced technology, we provide high-quality measurement services for ectopic fat accumulation. We perform precise measurements of ectopic fat accumulation, especially focusing on visceral fat accumulation, to assess potential hidden dangers.
  • Molecular Biomarker Analysis
Our company provides obesity-related biomarker screening and analysis services with high-throughput analysis tools. Our professional researchers not only have mature experience in high-throughput analysis but are also very mature in data collation and visualization. Through in-depth analysis of these biomarkers, we reveal the molecular mechanisms of obesity-related diseases and provide key targets for anti-obesity therapies.

Workflow

PD study for anti-obesity therapy refers to services that evaluate the effects and mechanisms of drugs in the treatment of obesity. We provide you with one-stop PD services including project design (targets of anti-obesity therapy, drug properties), selection of appropriate animal models or cell models for pharmacodynamic studies, close observation of the physiological indicators, weight changes, metabolic parameters, etc., of the experimental subjects. Based on the research results, the drug dosage form, dosage, etc., are optimized and improved. It cannot be ignored that we have a professional animal research team to ensure that the research meets ethical requirements and protects the rights and interests of the experimental subjects.

Results: In this study, researchers evaluated the bioactive effects of Calophyllum soulattri leaf extract (CSLE) on obesity through in vivo experiments. In addition, the researchers conducted an in-depth analysis of its potential active compounds using molecular docking techniques and absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME)/pharmacokinetic prediction tools to explore its molecular mechanisms and pharmacokinetic properties. The results of the study showed that CSLE had the potential to reduce body weight, decrease body fat index, and improve lipid levels. Its molecular docking binding affinity was superior to that of the positive control drug orlistat. CSLE is a promising anti-obesity drug candidate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the scope of the PD study?

The scope of PD research includes the effects of drug action and pharmacology, the duality of drug action (therapeutic effects and adverse reactions), the quantitative-affective relationship of a drug (the relationship between dose and quantitative response/qualitative response), and safety evaluation.

What are the considerations when choosing an animal model?

Selection of animal models for in vivo drug efficacy needs to pay attention to two points. First, the similarity between animal models and the human body, that is, animals effectively simulate human disease. Second, the effectiveness of the mechanism of action of the drug in animals.

Protheragen employs cutting-edge experimental designs and methodologies to ensure the accuracy and reliability of PD studies for anti-obesity therapeutics. We utilize a range of obesity models to assess the efficacy and safety of the drugs under investigation. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
