Brown Adipose Cells for Obesity Research
InquiryOverview of Brown Adipose Cells
In exploring the pathogenesis of obesity and in preclinical studies, Protheragen provides clients with a cutting-edge In Vitro Cell Model, brown adipose cells. With this model, our company precisely manipulates environmental factors, genetic factors, and metabolic pathways to reveal the central role of brown adipose cells in energy expenditure, fat storage, and systemic metabolic regulation. This model demonstrates a profound effect on energy metabolism and reveals its important role in regulating insulin sensitivity and inflammatory responses. Our company is committed to being your number-one choice in cell model development.
Brown Adipose Cell Model: an Innovative Key to Obesity Research
Cell Separation
We carefully isolate brown adipocytes from specific species and tissues using advanced cell separation techniques. Most brown adipocytes are derived from precursor cells of the embryonic mesoderm. Our experienced researchers provide specialized cell isolation, extraction, and culture services to ensure that every aspect of quality control meets industry-leading standards.
Cell Modeling
Cell differentiation: We use subcutaneous brown adipose tissue as the source to construct the brown adipose cell model. Under the condition of exogenous stimulation such as insulin, our researchers rationally add high-quality thiazolidinedione to induce differentiation.
Genetic engineering: To overcome the limitations of primary cells, our company offers immortalized brown adipose cell lines. Based on genetic engineering, our researchers combine the in vivo properties of primary cells with the ability of traditional cell lines to survive continuously in vitro, giving them the potential for differentiation and continued use.
Advanced Analytical Service
Gene editing: Using gene editing techniques, our researchers make precise genetic modifications to brown adipocytes to study the role of specific genes in adipose tissue function.
Single-cell sequencing: The single-cell sequencing service offered by our company provides insight into the heterogeneity within brown adipocytes, revealing the role of different cell types in energy metabolism and disease genesis.
Biomarker analysis: Through bioinformatics analysis, we provide biomarker identification and validation services related to brown adipocyte function, providing key indicators for the study of energy metabolism and disease occurrence.
Workflow
The process of constructing brown adipocyte models for obesity research typically includes the isolation of brown adipocytes or precursor cells from tissues, the expansion of these cells by cell culture techniques, and possibly the use of genetic engineering techniques to enhance the proliferative capacity and stability of the cells. Subsequently, these cells are induced to differentiate into mature brown adipocytes under specific conditions to mimic the in vivo environment. Ultimately, these cell models are used for in vitro studies and drug screening for obesity and its related diseases.
Applications
- Brown adipose cells help to gain insight into the pathogenesis of metabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. By simulating the in vivo environment, observe the changes of brown adipocytes under different conditions, and thus reveal the relationship between these diseases and the abnormal function of adipose tissue.
- Brown adipose cells can be used to test the safety and efficacy of anti-obesity drugs.
- Brown adipose cells can be used to characterize metabolites and their effects in vitro.

Results: In this study, researchers explored the role of brown and beige adipose tissue in regulating whole-body metabolism. Using a metabolomic approach, the researchers identified three small molecule metabolites synthesized in browned adipocytes. These metabolites were able to induce a phenotypic shift from white to brown adipocytes and promote mitochondrial oxidative energy metabolism in skeletal muscle cells. This study reveals a novel mechanism by which brown and beige adipose regulate whole-body metabolism by signaling between organs through metabolites. These findings provide a theoretical basis and potential targets for the development of new therapeutic approaches against obesity and related metabolic diseases.
