Cell viability and cytotoxicity assay kit

Cat. No.: OB0125WXX-062
Assay Type: Cell-based assay
Target Species: Universal
Assay Target: Cell viability and cytotoxicity
Size:
Cell viability and cytotoxicity assay kit

Product Overview

Description: Cell viability and cytotoxicity assay kit is a cell viability assay that uses colorimetric and fluorescent methods to measure and monitor cell viability and is suitable for use in light and fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, and other assay systems.
Assay Principle: Live cells are assayed by MTT (colorimetric assay) or calcein AM (fluorometric assay). Dead cells are assayed with the EthD-1 reagent (fluorometric assay). All 3 assays and saponin (cell death inducer) are included. Cells may be treated with compounds or agents that affect cell viability before detection.
Background: Measurement and monitoring of cell viability are essential in cell-based studies. This technique allows the optimization of cell culture conditions and the determination of cytokine, growth factor, or hormone activity. More importantly, the cytostatic nature of anti-obesity drugs in toxicology testing, the efficacy of therapeutic chemicals in drug screening, and cell-mediated cytotoxicity can be assessed by quantifying and monitoring cell viability and growth. Cell viability characteristics include cell metabolic activity and cell membrane integrity.
Synonyms: Cell viability assay; Cell cytotoxicity assay
Applications: Cell viability and cytotoxicity assay kit is suitable for cell activity and toxicity assays in most eukaryotic cell lines, including adherent and non-adherent cells and certain tissues.
Research Area: Cell-based research; Obesity
