Description: Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) test kit is a nutritional test kit that uses the microbiology method to detect the volume of VB5 in food matrices.
Background: VB5, one of the essential vitamins, is found in grains, meat, legumes, vegetables, eggs, and milk. It is involved in the synthesis of coenzyme A (CoA), which is essential for cellular energy production and the synthesis and degradation of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

Assay Principle: VB5 supplies the growth of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum. Its growth rate is associated with the volume of VB5 within the sample. The VB5 medium (Lactiplantibacillus plantarum added), samples, or standards are taken and added to the microwell. Afterward, they are incubated at 37°C and protected from light. Lactiplantibacillus plantarum will start growing until VB5 is consumed entirely. It takes 24 hours to complete incubation. Then, a microplate reader is used to read the sample turbidity with a 610-630 nm or 540-550 nm filter. The volume of VB5 in the sample is determined by comparing the sample turbidity with the standards.
