Description:
Reduced glutathione (GSH) assay kit (Colorimetric) is an assay kit for the rapid and sensitive detection of GSH in the range of 2-100 μmol/L.
Background:
Reduced glutathione (GSH) is a low molecular scavenger of O2-, H2O2, and LOOH.GSH is a small molecular peptide composed of glutamate, glycine, and cysteine, and is the major nonprotein thiol compound in tissues. GSH is a substrate for GSH-Px and GSH-ST, which are indispensable for the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide by these enzymes and stabilize thiol-containing enzymes. GSH plays an important role in the prevention, rehabilitation, and therapeutic research of diseases. When GSH is deficient or depleted, it may lead to the production of toxic effects or increase the toxic effects of many chemicals or environmental factors. This may be associated with an increase in oxidative damage, making GSH levels an important factor in measuring the body's antioxidant capacity.
Assay Principle:
Reduced glutathione (GSH) reacts with dinitrobenzoic acid (DNTB) to form a yellow complex, which can be detected at 405 nm, and the amount of reduced glutathione calculated indirectly.
