MTT cell proliferation assay kit

Specification

Description: MTT cell proliferation assay kit is a cell proliferation assay that uses colorimetric methods to measure and monitor cell proliferation and is suitable for a wide range of sample types.
Background: Measuring and monitoring cell proliferation is essential in cell-based research. This technology allows the optimization of cell culture conditions and the determination of cytokine, growth factor, or hormone activity. More importantly, the cytostatic nature of anti-obesity drugs in toxicology testing, the efficacy of therapeutic chemicals in drug screening, and cell-mediated cytotoxicity can be assessed by quantifying and monitoring cell proliferation. Cell proliferation characteristics include cell metabolic activity and cell membrane integrity.
Assay Principle: Cells may be cultured before the assay and then treated with compounds or agents that affect cell proliferation. Cells are then assayed with a proliferation reagent that converts the yellow tetrazolium MTT to the purple formazan product by cytoreductase in living cells. An increase in cell proliferation is followed by an increase in signal, while a decrease in cell proliferation (and signal) is indicative of toxic effects of compounds or suboptimal culture conditions.
