Specification
Description:
L-Lactic acid/lactate assay kit (Colorimetric) is a metabolic assay kit for the rapid and sensitive detection of L-Lactic acid/lactate in the range of 0.12-7.0 mmol/L.
Background:
Lactic acid is an intermediate product of glucose metabolism in the body and is produced mainly by red blood cells, rhabdomyosin, and brain tissue. The concentration of lactic acid in the blood depends mainly on the rate of synthesis and metabolism in the liver and kidneys. The bidirectional conversion of lactate and pyruvate is regulated by lactate dehydrogenase (LDH).
Assay Type:
Quantitative assay
Assay Principle:
LDH catalyzes the reaction of lactic acid and NAD+ to form pyruvic acid and NADH, respectively, using NAD+ as the H+ receptor, during which NBT is reduced to a purple compound. The concentration of lactate can be calculated by measuring the OD at 530 nm.
Assay Target:
L-Lactic acid/lactate
