Specification
Description:
Human agouti-related protein (AGRP) ELISA kit (31.25-2000 pg/mL, 0.002 pg/mL) is a ready-to-use ELISA kit for analyzing human AGRP levels with a detection range of 31.25-2000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 0.002 pg/mL.
Background:
AGRP plays a role in body weight homeostasis, is involved in the control of eating behavior through the central melanocortin system, and acts as an inverse agonist of MC3R and MC4R, thereby inhibiting their constitutive activity. Genetic variants in AGRP may be responsible for obesity.
Formula Weight:
14,440 Da
Assay Principle:
The assay utilizes a quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique in which an antibody specific for AGRP is pre-coated on a microtiter plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells, and any AGRP is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removal of unbound material, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to AGRP is added to the wells. After washing, avidin-conjugated HRP is added to the wells. After washing to remove unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells, and the color develops in proportion to the amount of AGRP bound in the first step. The color development is stopped, and the intensity of the color is measured.
