Description:
Cat interleukin 6 (IL-6) ELISA kit (6.25-400 pg/mL) is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA kit for analyzing the presence of cat IL-6 in the range of 6.25-400 pg/mL.
Background:
IL-6 is a cytokine with multiple biological functions. It is a potent inducer of the acute phase response, acting on T cells, B cells, hematopoietic progenitors, hepatocytes, and cells of the central nervous system. It plays an important role in the eventual differentiation of B cells into Ig-secreting cells. It also acts as an actin, which is excreted into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and can promote lipolysis and improve insulin resistance.
Formula Weight:
23,401 Da
Assay Principle:
This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate IL-6 in cat serum, plasma. An antibody specific for IL-6 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells, and any IL-6 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for IL-6 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated HRP is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells, and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL-6 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped, and the intensity of the color is measured.
